Tanja Genschow

My involvement in this work has a personal and emotional background.

Ten years ago, my grandmother passed away due to cancer. I had a deep connection with her, and her only wish was that her soul be released into the sea. She did not like the idea of being buried or placed in a sterile location.

My grandmother did everything for me, and she was by my side until the end. It was time for me to do something for her. Unfortunately, it was not legal at that time to scatter ashes in the sea of Mallorca, so we had to do it illegally. We had to organise everything individually, including the urn, music, boat, and drinks, which was challenging. However, after the secret ceremony, as we headed back towards the coast, I felt a nice feeling. I knew that we had done the right thing, and I felt an indescribable sense of warmth around my heart … My grandma’s soul with a final “THANK YOU”.

Today, thanks to my years of experience in the worldwide event sector, I would like to help other family members with this process. As a Spaniard and the first point of contact, I will organize a ceremony for you that is just as beautiful and enjoyable, bringing you peace and relief.

Christian Hausser

As a child, my love for boats and the sea became my passion. Learning to sail at a young age, I quickly won my first regattas and the feeling of water, freedom, and infinity has never left me. For the past eight years, I’ve been living with my family in Mallorca and have turned my passion into a profession. As a yacht and charter broker for premium yachts with internationally operating brokerage houses, I’ve gained extensive experience and expertise in the versatile yacht charter business. This work has also led me to develop a keen interest in marine conservation, the environment, and biodiversity.

Unfortunately, I have experienced tragic losses of friends and relatives, and traditional cemetery burials only reinforced my feelings of sadness and melancholy. Recognizing a need for change, Nemocean was born with the idea of combining mourning ceremonies with the relaxed, positive energy of Mallorca and the Mediterranean Sea. Our enthusiastic team is committed to providing the bereaved with a dignified yet beautiful farewell. We strive for the bereaved to emerge from tragic events with optimism and positivity, cherishing the memory of their loved ones in a beautiful way.

My role in Nemocean is to select and provide beautiful yachts and crews for our ceremonies. Our priority is sustainability, safety, and quality when selecting yachts and conducting ceremonies. We are fully committed to ensuring that our ceremonies adhere to all applicable regulations, protect the environment, and utilize certified biodegradable urns.

Anna Isabell Hausser

In mid-2022, I suffered a terrible stroke of fate when I lost my dearest friend, who had been like a brother to me for many years. Unfortunately, a funeral on Lake Starnberg was not legally possible, and I had wished for a beautiful and emotional farewell on the water. Losing someone you love is always painful, and accepting that they are gone is a difficult process. Through Nemocean, I hope to make it easier for you to say goodbye to your loved ones in the stunning Mediterranean surroundings of Mallorca, and to support you throughout the process.

Growing up on Lake Starnberg in Germany, I have always felt a strong connection to nature and water. As a business graduate, I worked in marketing for several years at large newspaper and magazine publishing houses. However, the birth of my son and my husband’s career as the owner of a yacht brokerage brought me to Mallorca eight years ago, prompting a career change. I have recently spent three years working in a child and adolescent psychiatry practice, and I am currently pursuing further training as a coach and psychological counsellor.

Working as the Managing Director of Nemocean is a very special joy and deeply personal for me. I am passionate about creating an environment for an extraordinary and peaceful “letting go” experience, and I am committed to being there for you and supporting you throughout the process of saying goodbye.

Tobias Hofmann

Since childhood, I have been drawn to the sea not only for its impressive natural beauty but also for the boundlessness, freedom, and inner peace it brings. This passion for the maritime life led to several years of naval service, as well as a love for swimming and diving. About five years ago, I relocated to Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands, after living and working for many years in the UK, France, and Germany.

In Mallorca, I discovered a unique combination of stunning scenery, cultural heritage, and diversity, all within a Mediterranean climate, which makes the Balearic Islands one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Here, my connection to the sea is anchored, and I experience an exceptional and mostly year-round connection to almost all European and many non-European countries, cities, and people.

In Mallorca, I found a team with many years of extraordinary service experience. We set out to rethink and implement the idea of traditional funeral ceremonies for our loved ones by integrating the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean. This ultimately led to the founding of “Nemocean.”

At Nemocean, I oversee the company’s development and alignment with the needs and quality requirements of our clients, including the connection of outstanding regional and international business partners and service providers. Nemocean is meant to set the standard for the final farewell party that I envision and wish for.
