What exactly does Nemocean do?
Nemocean offers a funeral service in Mallorca to scatter the ashes/ throw the urn into the sea.
The farewell ceremony is organised to help you cope with mourning, sadness and the passing of your loved one.
When is a burial at sea held in Mallorca?
The burial at sea in Mallorca can be scheduled a few weeks or even several months after the cremation at the crematorium, depending on your preference. We will work with you to plan the exact date.
Who else is onbaord the vessel
In addition to you and your guests, the only individuals on board are the crew, typically consisting of the captain and a guide. Depending on your preferences, a waiter, performer, or priest may also be present for larger boats or groups.
How do we transport the ashes from our home to Mallorca?
With the exception of Germany, you are permitted to carry the ashes of your loved one in your hand luggage or checked in luggage with all airlines.
Some airlines, do not count the ashes as a piece of carry on luggage and are extremely respectful of the journey to are undertaking and the circumstances.
Likewise, when you pass through Airport Security, you can inform the staff you are carrying the ashes of a loved one, we recommend not sealing the urn or the container in which you transport the ashes just in the rare case security staff need to examine the contents, however, the modern X-Ray System are very capable of detecting the content of a container.

Are The Ashes Scattered In To The Sea?
Ashes are committed to the sea ‘in the Urn’. The romantic notion of scattering the ashes in to the sea is actually both unlawful and environmentally unfriendly here in Spain.
Lastly, due to the possibility of a strong breezes or a gust of wind it is not a very practical act, you only need to search on YouTube to see ‘Scattering Ashes In The Sea Gone Wrong’ to understand, committing the ashes of your loved one in the Urn is both respectful, dignified and the perfect way to bid them the final farewell.
Planning Ahead
We recommend planning for ample time on the day of the sea funeral. This allows for a relaxed atmosphere and provides an opportunity to take a stroll around the ports of departure before and after the ceremony. Additionally, if needed, we can offer recommendations for local accommodations.
Cancellations Due To Poor Weather
Ensuring that the team at Nemocean can contact you 48 hours before the funeral ceremony is crucial. Please provide a mobile number in your contact details for this purpose and make sure that the phone is turned on and charged. Rest assured, we will reach out to you in case of any issues or concerns that may arise.
What is the reason for using a special sea urn for the sea burial?
Our specially designed sea urns are made of biodegradable materials that dissolve entirely at the bottom of the sea within 48 hours. These urns do not contain any plastic or metal components, and their use is mandatory by law to preserve the environment and safeguard the sea’s inhabitants.
What is the recommended attire for the day of the ceremony?
To ensure your safety and comfort on board, we kindly request that you wear flat shoes while moving around. The Mallorcan sun can be intense, and although we will provide sun protection on board, we suggest renting one of our hand parasols if you have sensitive skin. While it’s entirely up to you to choose your attire, we recommend wearing white clothing as it’s both elegant and cooling.
Will there be music played during the ceremony?
The boat is equipped with loudspeakers that can be used to play music during the ceremony. If you have a specific music request, please inform us at least 10 days prior to the sea funeral date, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
What provisions are available on board?
Complimentary water and a welcome drink are provided on board the boat. For any additional beverages or catering needs, please feel free to place an order with us. As boat trips can often work up an appetite, we also offer small snacks to make your experience even more enjoyable.
Will the date I request for my event be automatically confirmed?
Please note that all appointment requests are subject to the availability of the boat. In the event that your preferred date is not available, we will work with you to find an alternative date that meets your needs.
When is payment due for my reservation?
To confirm your reservation, a deposit of 50% is required. The remaining 50% of the payment must be settled 30 days prior to the scheduled sea ceremony. Please note that payment after the trip is not possible.
If I have already made a payment, but my desired date cannot be fulfilled due to inclement weather, will I receive a refund?
We are fortunate to have good weather in Mallorca for most of the year. If unfavourable weather conditions prevent us from proceeding with your desired date, we will work with you to find another suitable date. However, if you prefer to cancel your reservation, we understand and will refund the amount you have paid within 48 hours.
